Investing in a cleaner, greener engine fleet

The first of ACS&T’s 12 new Euro 6 trucks have arrived as part of our longer term investment in greener, more efficient engines across the fleet.

After trials, we made an initial purchase of two new Renault DTI Euro 6 trucks as replacements after being impressed by the vehicles’ environmental credentials and operating cost reductions.

Managing director Malcolm Johnstone said the investment will bring greater efficiencies to the ACS&T fleet in terms of fuel economy and environmental footprint.

“As well as improved fuel consumption, we were particularly impressed by the driver training benefits as part of Renault’s package of support.

“With their computer aided training, we can develop our drivers to reduce fuel consumption,” he said.

Early this year, we plan to continue our replacement policy with further trials including other manufacturers. Only recently, we also extended our fleet of 30-pallet refrigerated trailers to 18.

Mr Johnstone added: “This is a chance for us to show how we continue to invest in the longer term improvements of our fleet.  The choice of Euro 6 range we purchase underlines our commitment to deliver a quality service to customers, to developing our team of eco-drivers, and our responsibility to the environment with cleaner engines.”
