Warehouse to Wheels

The nationwide driver shortage has been a highly publicised issue over recent months, and ACS&T want to be part of the solution to this industry trend.

We decided it was necessary to be pro-active in supporting our industry and to try to combat the driver issue by tackling it head on with the ‘Warehouse to Wheels Apprentice program’.

This program has seen us recruit nine apprentices who will be fully-funded on a yearlong course with guaranteed employment at the end. Alongside their C E training the drivers will be working in the warehouse and supporting the operations, giving them even more insight into our business and Industry, and earning as they learn!

Max Hafford Head of Transport is delighted to announce the first nine recruits joined us on the 18th October and the program has officially gone live.

‘In October we started our journey with the Warehouse to Wheels scheme with our training partner GTG Training. We have had some great applicants and are pleased that nine employees started on Monday 18th October with a good mix of existing Warehouse Operatives and new recruits.

During the next several months, they will be supporting our busy Warehouse operations in both Grimsby and Wolverhampton when not in training. The training encompasses both practical and theory training that will equip them with a good foundation in becoming strong drivers to join our ACS&T fleet. During the training and once they have passed their tests our experienced drivers will mentor them in driving and operating our high specification equipment.

I wish them luck and look forward to seeing them behind the wheel!’

We wish all our recruits the best of look, and we are delighted to be able to support our industry by investing in the drivers of the future.
