ACS&T have 3 centres of excellence – Grimsby - Seafood Centre of excellence, Wolverhampton – Consolidation centre of excellence and Tewksbury - our Meat and export centre of excellence.

To meet such exacting standards of our sites and customers requirements, we must hold a number of food and site-specific accreditations - Across the 3 sites, we hold a total of 6 different accreditations covering; BRC grade AA at all sites, ISO9001 and 14001 across all sites, DQMP at Grimsby with the expectations to be accredited at Wolverhampton Q2 2022.

In Tewkesbury we also hold additional certification for OF&G processors certification and FSA approvals to both USA, Japan and Canadian exports.

In 2022 we are going through the process of also signing up to the Soil Association and to become FSA approved to export to Hong Kong.

What does it take to hold Food Specific Accreditations?

I’m sure you can imagine the in-depth audit process to not only gain these accreditations but to also renew them year to year.

In 2021 we saw a very high level of site audits, some remote others on site attendance - in total all ACS&T stores have seen 37 site audits (Recertification, Insurers, Customer, Local authorities, and Internal)

Tewkesbury has seen the most site audits due to gaining export approval for the USA, Japan and Canada. USA alone requires FSA officers to attend site 5 times a year due to the high level of standards required to export to the USA!

USA/Japanese FSA approval process requires FSA officers to attend site quarterly to conduct a 89 step checklist against FSA standards.

With such focus on our compliance and ensuring we meet the standards of all of these accreditations, we need to have a strong team supporting us.

Vicky Stonehouse Head of HR now also is the Department Head for our compliance and Health and Safety Team.

Lucy Robinson has recently joined the team as Compliance Coordinator and supports all sites, Here is a little from Lucy;

‘I’ve worked in food manufacturing for over 20 years in various Technical roles and in many product categories. I’m currently using the experience I have to develop and strengthen the systems that are in place to ensure full compliance to food safety requirements.’

We are looking to strengthen the team further by recruiting for a Health and Safety Coordinator who will alongside Heads of Departments and site General Managers to continue to strengthen or safety standards.
